Mirror scrying, also called catoptromancy, is a divination method that involves looking into a mirror for symbols and visions. Scrying works best with a flat or even reflective surface, such as a crystal such as obsidian, water, or mirror. In this type of divination, the medium will set a special mirror in front of them. Mirrors are portals and act as a gateway between the medium and other planes of existence. There is no right or wrong way to get visions or images. Some mediums will see in the mirror, and some will get the images in their mind, similar to how you get images when you remember things.

Obsidian is volcanic glass, supercooled before any minerals could form from the magma. The energy of obsidian is protective, guarding and secure, reminding us to protect ourselves against the harsh words or actions of others or from the stresses and strains of life. It’s good to have around in a working environment where there may be stress. It can also be used as a tool to aid grounding, and for uniting body and spirit, bringing them into harmony and focus. Obsidian cuts through all that is superfluous and brings us right back to the truth of how we are and how the world around us truly is. It may promote deep soul healing and also help connect with past lives.
