Description
Carved obsidian arrow heads.
We’ll have to back to the stone age for this one! Long before the Bronze Age about 3000 BCE, spear and arrow heads were knapped out of flint and obsidian. As obsidian is a type of volcanic glass, it fractures in a conchoidal way which allows very thin and shar edges to be knapped. Flint and obsidian were eventually replaced by bronze and then other metals.
