Full Moon and Moon Water
March 16, 2022Bright blessings everyone!
I’ve already done an Ostara mail out, so if you want to have a read you can find it by clicking HERE. Ostara begins on 20th March this year.
Full Moon
The next full moon is on Friday 18th March at 07.17. This is also known as the Worm Moon and is the last full moon of winter. It is called the Worm Moon because this is when earthworms start to come out as the soil warms up. The Anglo-Saxons called it Lenten Moon after the Germanic Lenten for spring. The Celts called it the Wind Moon and Plough Moon. In Old English, it was known as the Death Moon and the Chaste Moon referring to the purity of the spring season, and also for the Maiden Goddess around the Spring Equinox.
Friday looks to be a nice and clear by night, so it will be a great time to make some moon water. You can also make your moon water on Thursday or Saturday night. If you’ve never made moon water before, it is quite simple.
All you need is a vessel to hold water – this could be a jug, bowl, mason jar or other similar container; and water that is safe to drink. This can be from the tap, bottled or filtered.
The simplest way to do this is to take your vessel and water out at moonrise once the sun has set, and pour the water into the vessel, whilst focussing on your intentions. Leave your water to charge out in the moonlight and overnight, and collect it and give thanks before sunrise. Most of us don’t have time to do a full ritual to make moon water, but if you have time you can include crystals, burning some herbs and meditation. The zodiac plays an important role in the power and properties your moon water will have. This full moon is in the zodiac of Pisces, and as this is a water sign it will bring emotional and creative energy.
What uses does it have? You can use it for cleasning your crystals (ones that can go in water!), cleansing your altar, cleansing your hands and feet, you can make tea with it, drink it, give it to your pets, water the plants, or even use it in rituals. There are no limits to the uses!
