When is the best time to make moon water and what is it?
Moon water is ordinary water that you’ve put out into the moonlight to absorb the light and energy from the moon. The best time to do this is the full moon, when the lunar energy is at its maximum, as it is associated with the maximum potential and power.
How to make moon water
Fill a bottle or vessel of your choice with tap water or filtered water and seal it. A bottle with a lid is ideal as it will stop wildlife from getting into it.
Wait until the sun has completely set and place your water outside where in an area that will see moonlight. Keep it out all night and bring it in before the sun comes up.
What can it be used for?
Anything! You can use it to make drinks with, in cooking, watering plants, making soap, giving to pets and for cleansing sacred items such as tools on your altar, and for ritual use.
Can I make moon water at any time of the month?
You can, however it won’t receive the same energy from the moon as it will when its full, and although some people make moon water on a new or black moon, this is when the lunar energy is at its weakest.
Things to consider
Avoid making moon water during an eclipse, as eclipse energy is intense.
If you are making moon water during a waning moon phase, be specific about your intentions as you can use this in rituals and spells to bring closure or an end to a situation.
The zodiac sign the moon is in when you want to make your moon water. For example, today’s new moon and the next full moon on 12th February are in Aquarius, so it may be a good time to focus intentions upon creativity and innovation, or building new friendships.
