Description
Blue Chalcedony is a variety of Chalcedony. Chalcedony is composed of very fine intergrowths of the minerals quartz and moganite. Chalcedony has a waxy lustre and may be semi-transparent or translucent. It can assume a wide range of colours but those most commonly seen are white to grey milky-blue greyish-blue or a shade of brown ranging from pale to nearly black. The chalcedony we have comes from Namibia, although there are deposits in Turkey.
It is a good alternative to blue lace agate, which is a similar but banded chalcedony.
